This mixtape should be considered one of the best attempts to merge EDM music and rap. While it is definately not for the thought provoking or emotional listeners, it is the project if your looking for if you want something high tempo and energetic.
The production is the definition of rave music. All of it is made up of the producers using the unique sounds to create soundscapes that are thier versions of a verse from a rapper. The way the noises come across makes an enjoyable melody, if you enjoy grinding noises and helps to tie the project together as even the producers seem to be guest features.
The lyricism is not complicated at all and this entire project relies entirely upon delivery and performance, mixed with the beats of course. Waka Flocka does especially well at taking his average rhymes but getting them across with such passion and great delivery that they become good and sometimes great. On this kind of project, the lyrics from the people on it are exactly what you expect to hear.
The features on this are fantastic and help bring another level of diversity to the project. While each track is definately different, it is good to hear other rappers trying this new direction that Waka Flocka has chosen to head in. It is possible that some less features could help the mixtape as the beats are so overpowering to begin with, but this is still a good listen.
Overall, this mixtape is an interesting experimental listen and does a great job bringing a level of energy to a musical project that is usually only heard on a few tracks. Waka Flocka could keep exploring this avenue, but it would be good to hear him have a stronger presence rather than relying on the production to carry the mixtape through.
