Madchild – Silver Tongue Devil Review

This project is a great step for independant artists who want to be entirely them for all of thier songs. While this does still have it’s flaws, there is no doubt that this is one of the premium independant releases of the year so far.

The production is very good with a lot of diversity when it comes to how Madchild wants the listener to feel. There are a lot of different atmosphere’s with many different instruments in effect to make some very interesting tracks. A few more mainstream backings could show more of a complete skill of Madchilds rapping, but the actual selection here allows him to be himself and keep the personal nature of this album.

The lyricism is really excellent and shows Madchild at his best.  Every bar is packed with wordplay and techniques that really help to with the descriptive portion as well as the stroy telling. There is no real way that Madchild could improve his rapping. He may want to look for more references as some get heard a few times through the project, however that is it.

The features are good and help to showcase thier own ability as well as increase the level of cohesion on this album. While it is only a few people appearing a few times, they show what they are capable of in different ways. A few more features, with maybe some singing could add an extra dimension but Madchild does a good job on his solo tracks as well as when with a guest so it doesn’t need anything more.

Overall, this is a really great album that runs just slightly long in tracks. However it is still a personal journey that the listener can embark on with one of the rap games most lyrical players.
