This is a great album for fans of both trap music and of lyricism. Dave East fuses the two to create an album that treads already worn ground but in creative ways.
The production is good as it gives a lot of room for East to explore content while driving the project forward. The beats are diverse enough for each track to be individual but fit together with the theme of the album. Maybe some more mainstream beats to allow for more mainstream appeal but it would be unseemly for Dave East to sell out to become more famous. It would go against what he says on this album.
The lyricism is great with plenty of techniques peppering every track. Dave puts a lot of effort into his rhymes which shows in the imagery and story telling elements. There are no real issues with what Dave East does on this project and you should expect to see more great things from him in the future.
The features are great and add a lot of cohesiveness to this project. Each brings a lot to the table and shows that Dave East has a lot of very talented friends in Hip Hop circles who all appear to have good chemistry with him. A few more singing guests could make some more interesting moments, but each of the people on this do great work.
Overall, this album is very enjoyable and shows that lyricism is staging a great comback after a while ofdummied down rap. Dave East should continue to crank out music liek this.
