Tech N9ne Collabos – Dominion Review

This album is fantastic as it shows that every member of Strange Music is not only talented, but works extremely well with the other members. Tech N9ne has built a strong house and will only continue to be a powerhouse in the rap game.

The production is incredible with a huge range of different beats to allow for an extremely diverse set of tracks. The backings each create the perfect atmosphere for the type of song that they are as well as blending together with a top level of cohesion. There are no problems with the production here and Strange Music should continue with this mentality.

The lyricism is amazing with every artist showing that they are as talented as their leader. Tech leads the way with plenty of examples of top quality wordplay and the rest of his troops fall in line with their own stunning displays. Each artist here does a really magnificent job here and proves that Strange music makes strong decisions about who they sign.

Overall, with every artist here being a guest and doing a great job, this release may be a bit of a long slog to the end, but the end result stays fresh with the switching artists making things interesting. The house that Tech N9ne built is a strong one and only continues to get stronger.

Tech N9NE – The Storm Review

This is a lengthy release from Tech, but each song is entertaining. They might not all work as a full album listen through, but individually, these are good songs.

The production is great with plenty of energy keeping the album buzzing. Each beat makes a great atmosphere for the type of song which helps keep the listener interested. Maybe a few more slow tracks could give more of a balanced feel, but it may not fit with Tech’s particular style.

The lyricism is fantastic with some of the best wordplay this year. Tech bends words to his will as he crafts bar full of multi-syllable schemes as well as every other lyrical device. His flow may be a little fast for everyone, but it makes very entertaining tracks.

The features are good as they help keep tracks fresh considering how long this project is. Each puts in a great effort that shows the chemistry that the Strange Music roster has with each other. There is a good balance of rap and singing, but a few more artists who are singers could give a little more depth.

Overall, this is a good release from Tech N9NE but it is not as cohesive as his previous albums. While he does more than good work on this, a bit more direction could ave stream lined this a bit more.

Tech N9ne Collabos – Strangulation Volume 2 Review

This album is full of the moments that make this series a hit. Tech N9ne keeps the momentum of his team going throughout with a range of atmospheres to fulfill every listeners mood.

The production is energetic and powerful with some more laid back moments to allow the showing of the softer side of the team. Each beat is individual which helps the project become cohesive and stop the listen through become a big one track mess. There are no issues with beat selection except maybe trying to extend thier comfort zone slightly.

The lyricism is great as all the artists putting in the effort to extend thier skills. Tech N9ne does especially well in his attempts to show that his label is the strongest independant powerhouse out there and he puts forward a very strong case. Again, there are no real issues here.

The features all bring thier top game to show what they can do as well as show the strength of the team. Each only makes the tracks stronger and the guests all do a great job of showcasing thier own skills. There is a good balance of singing to rap which all really makes for a great listen through.

Overall, this is a great showing for Strange music as well as for the individual artists. Tech N9ne has shown that once again he has one of the strongest rosters out there.

Tech N9ne – Special Effects Review

This album is filled with raw and total emotion. With feelings from aggression to sadness to happiness channeled into songs, Tech has made an album that can be relatable and enjoyed by most of the Hip Hop audiance.

The production is excellent. The use of instruments rather than random sounds makes for a slightly more enjoyable listen as well as smoother transitions between songs. Each beat perfectly reflects the atmosphere of each track and contains a lot of influences from other genres, punk for example, to make the project additionally cohesive. The skits in between the tracks, while showing a more human side of Tech N9ne, are quite frequent at the beginning and these could have been better spread out a bit more but they are still enjoyable.

The lyricism is definately present and is fantastic. Tech N9ne has always had some lyrical ability but he has definately developed them through his last few projects. On this, he weaves great multi syllable rhymes that suck in the listener, making them wonder when they will finish. He may need to work on a couple other rap techniques as fall backs, but he is definately doing a great job bringing lyricism to the audiance.

The features all do a great job and all have great verses. With guests ranging from his own label to some of Hip Hops elite, Tech has assembled a team here that would make a lot of other rappers extremely jealous. He even has some features that aren’t from a Hip Hop background to great effect.

Overall, this is a great project that has songs for pretty much anyone who enjoys Hip Hop. Tech N9ne has shown why he is an independent powerhouse in the rap game and that intends to stay there.

Tech N9ne Collabos – Strangeulation Review

This is a strong showing for Tech but not a great showcase for the rest of the Strange label. Tech N9ne showcases everything that has made him a major label size player in an independent game. The only problem is that, with the exception of Murs, the rest of the people on his team seem to want to copy his style and flow to make a bigger name for themselves. They all seem to rap double time to keep pace with Tech and it doesn’t show the talents they have that got them their place on the roster in the first place.

The fact you have a bunch of similar sounding rappers to Tech N9ne on the album does detract from the album as a whole, but if you only listen to a one or a couple of tracks at a time, they come across as engaging and enjoyable, sometimes experimental, gems. Tracks like “Red Rags” come across as fantastic and energetic while having a lot of replay ability and other tracks such as “American Horror Story” are haunting and should be locked in a cage with guards watching it all day, every day.

The lyricism is still a heavy feature in this team’s album and it is clear that Tech N9ne is still razor sharp when it comes his own verses. The rest of his team are also lyrically able and some shine like Tech does, but with the copycat nature that was going on, then it makes it tricky to appreciate it for the whole album length.

The production is quality on this album and each tracks production helps lend to the atmosphere that the track wants to create. All of it is very tactfully done so that every track blends beautifully into each other so that unless you’re looking or already know, you can’t tell when one track ends and another begins.

In conclusion, get this album but don’t expect long listening sessions. Listen to this album and if you didn’t already, get to love Strange Music record label. They might not be a major label, but they are looking to be one of the more powerful independent labels in the Hip Hop scene and with one of the most influential independent musicians of the last couple of years as their head honcho, Strange music is shaping up to have a good year.
