KXNG Crooked – Valley Of The KXNGS EP Review

This project is a fantastic introduction to KXNG Crooked for fans before his album drops. Previous fans can get behind the fact that one of the most lyrical rappers in the modern game is still being a rhyme genius and new fans can enjoy the bouncy production while learning what lyricism is.

The production is a sleek west coast affair, with bouncy backings and plenty of energy to help keep the listener interested, especially if they haven’t heard a Crooked song before. Each beat isn’t jarring in anyway and the fluidity of the transitions makes this an easier listening experience instead of being thrown from song to song. With this being only a handful of examples, it will be interesting to see what Crooked has chosen to work with on the full album.

The lyricism is fantastic with Crooked cramming bars into every song but without it sounding forced. Metaphors and similies are strewn throughout but the songs don’t feel overcrowded with rhymes trying to be too clever. The perfect balance is struck between bars and delivery and KXNG Crooked thrives in those moments.

Overall, This is a really great EP for Hip Hop fans everywhere, while knowing it is only a taster for what is to come in a few weeks time. May the album be as good or better than this and it will be in contention for album of the year.

Horseshoe Gang – Anti Trap Music Review

This album is great because it is showing a different side of rap than has been broadcast recently. Each member of the group shows how they are lyrically great as well as trying to open the minds of listeners around the world.

The production has a lot of diversity from modern west coast to more old school aggression. Each is done with a strong beat to rap over which lets the group show their abilities. They even use a beat compromised of vocals to show that the backing is not everything. There are no issues with the backings here as they only improve the project.

The lyricism is fantastic with all four members of the group pushing themselves to really push themselves. Every bar is either packed with emotion or stuffed with lyrical devices to make every song land hard with the listener. There are no issues with any of the members here and only great rhymes on the tracks.

The only feature on the project works great because with four members of the group, there is not a lot of space on the tracks that needs filling. The guest is none other than the older brother of all members of the group who helped them build their careers who does not fail to disappear.

Overall, this project is incredible for its messages, clever lyricism and cohesiveness. Everyone involved in this album should be proud of how it has turned out.
