This release sounds as a Styles P album should. It has every element of street life involved in it and plays through like a reflection on his own life.
The production is fascinating, with gritty street beats thrown in with some slower, more emotional offerings. This helps give a complete feel to the album, rather than focusing on one element and losing a chunk of his potential audience. Styles P excels over these offerings, some might want to see him try something different from what he already knows, but the beat selection here shows some clever thinking and should be celebrated.
The lyricism is good, with a lot of impact in the delivery. Styles P has a signature tone that helps distinguish him from others on the tracks, as well as increase the potency of the words. While his performance here is fantastic, it would still be nice to see P try some more lyrical acrobatics.
The features are all incredible and help add new levels to the songs. With the combination of other rappers and heavy assistance from one particular artist for singing, the cohesion between tracks is amazing. Maybe slightly more variety in singers and an appearance from his LOX colleagues would be great, but Styles P has more more smart choices here again.
Overall, this is a milestone for Styles P as his followers wont be able to keep away. Every track here speaks to a lot of people and is worth the attention of all hip hop fans.
This release starts off strong with all three members having strong verses, but some safe choices later can make a full listen through disappointing. Some of the more mainstream options takes this edge off this gritty album that could have been solid without them.
The production is good with the right atmosphere on every track helping to make this have more of an impact. While some of the beats are perfect for the group, the attempt to seem more radio friendly makes the group seem like they are trying to grow their audience. However by doing this they may have lost some of the core group that liked their old stuff. By sticking to what they know, they may have created a more cohesive project.
The lyricism is fantastic with all three members trying hard to be the best. They also try hard at the performance aspect with their individual delivery making the tracks stand out slightly. On the downside, the hooks are not as hard hitting as the verses and can be repetitive in places. While there are no major works to be done, this is not a totally smooth ride.
The features are the weakest part of this release because they don’t necessarily fit with the style of the group. While none do particularly badly, some do not gel with the chemistry of the group and sound a little out of place. Some singers would have been a better way to show the softer side than radio attempts.
Overall, this is an enjoyable release if you can sit through the few rough patches. Sheek Louch, Styles P and Jadakiss should be proud of their individual performances as well as how they work as a team.
This album is a great balance of street content but with more of a refined sound. Sheep Louch has grown musically and it shows on this project.
The production is good with the raw power of street music but with the more refined radio sound that makes this easy to listen to. The beats are all cohesive and follow through well without blending well together. There are no problems with the selection of backings for this album.
The lyricism is good with Sheek using different techniques without a rapid pace to show that bars still exist in Hip Hop. The variation in his rhymes help give his lyrics an edge and make the songs more enjoyable. A few changes of flow could show a willingness to try new things but he knows what works well and does that fantastically.
The features help make this project even more cohesive and show the connections Sheek Louch has in the industry. Each brings a good verse that makes thier tracks more entertaining. There is a good balance of singing to rapping as well so there are no particular issues there.
Overall, this is a very listenable album that will have fans bumping it for a long time. Sheek Louch has done a really good job of putting this together and should be proud of this result.
