KXNG Crooked – Good Vs Evil II: The Red Empire Review

This is another steller release from KXNG Crooked as he continues to use his platform to share and explore his views on America as it stands today. He does all that while showing that he has not missed a step in all his years of being part of the industry.

The production is versatile and fitting for the different content and atmosphere in each song. While the album has some more energetic offerings as well as slowed down songs, every song flows together with ease and makes the listen through so easy. The collection of different feelings and vibes on this release make for a well rounded album that has plenty of replay value.

The lyricism is a masterpiece as well as a master class on how to put what you believe in and your passions into well crafted bars. KXNG Crooked has always been a top wordsmith, but he really pushes himself on this to show once again that he belongs amoung the absolute best. A lot of rappers today could learn a lot from this artist, from rapping and his business acumen.

The features do well to compliment the songs they are on. Each shows that the guest them self is talented but also shows good chemistry with Crooked and only adds to the track they are on. It would be interesting to see some more artists work with Crooked in the future, but this project feels balanced with this many guests to help lighten the load.

Overall, this is a release with great songs that will give the listener plenty to think about as well as a high level of entertainment value. KXNG Crooked should continue to educate the masses on what it means to be a questioning mind with a razor sharp tongue in this day and age.

KXNG Crooked -Good Vs. Evil Review

This album is full of all the things listeners love about KXNG Crooked. He is focused and that keeps his work sharp and following the theme of this project.

The production is great with the atmosphere reflecting exactly the message of the tracks. The beats are all dark to reflect the subject matter but are smooth enough to transition easily between the songs without becoming muddled together. Maybe something more light hearted could show another side of Crooked, but he excels on these tracks, so no one will be too bothered.

The lyricism is some of the best that has been released in recent years. Crooked uses some intensely descriptive and clever wordplay to make a project laced with absolute bars. His style might not be for everyone, but his rhymes should suit all.

The features are good as they help add a little more depth to this album. Each may not be in it for very long, but the fact they contributed is more than enough with some legends showing enough respect to this west coast MC that he is brought to some listeners attention at all. The way this is put together with the guests is great as they don’t control the project, just gently shape it.

Overall, this album is great to listen to from top to bottom, as long as you can get on board with the concept. KXNG Crooked is one of the best lyricists out there and should be respected by all hip hop fans as such.

Oddisee – The Good Fight Review

This project is exactly the fluid, retro and uplifting album that listeners have been looking for. It has all the elements of a great album and comes together well for a great listening experiance.

The production is excellent with its laid back and yet somehow energetic beats that work well with Oddisee’s style. The backings are smooth and cohesive with each other and the messages of each track. Some more variation in tone could more of a project for everyone, but there is no doubt how enjoyable this album is.

The lyricism is excellent and Oddisee’s flow continues to be a huge asset to the Hip Hop community. The rapid fire lyrics combined with the complexity of the wordplay lead to fantasticly entertaining tracks. A few simpler ones for the more mainstream audiance could boost sales, but as the last track says, Oddisee’s shouldn’t dumb down his lyrics for anyone.

The features are great and have great chemistry with Oddisee. They all bring great effort and passion to the tracks they are on. More features with bigger names could bring Oddisee more fame, but he has enough fans to have rap as a career so he must be doing something right with connections.

Overall, this is an excellent listen through and a very entertaining album. Oddisee should be proud of how this album has come together and should continue with the work ethic that created it.
