This album is the second disc of his release last week and it continues the standard of greatness. There is at least a few tracks for every Hip Hop listener and they are done very well.
The production is good and keeps his west coast feel well and truly alive. Each song may have the diversity to keep its individuality, but it definately has that west influence through all of it. There are no issues with the backings on this as he covers every aspect of Hip Hop with it.
The lyricism is good and shows he is still improving upon his previous performances. The way he moves within the beats shows great talent as Game has shown every step of his discography. There is little to improve on here, but maybe some radio friendly songs to appeal to the mainstream.
The features all help flesh this out and, while they all put in a lot of effort, show that Game is one of the best out there. Each guest shows that they have some talent and that they can put passion into thier work, but few come close to the main artist. There are no issues with his selection however because each helps make the project more cohesive.
Overall, this album is a fantastic continuation of his previous work that shows Game is not missing a step. If Game can keep this up, then he will truly be one of the greats.
This album is crafted to perfection and Dr Dre has made a fantastic listening experiance. It may not be for everyone, but fans of real Hip Hop will adore what has been made here.
The production is flawless with easy transitions and the tracks have an atmosphere that fits perfectly with what they are trying to perpetrate. The beats are smooth and cohesive, allowing the story of Compton to flow easily to the listener. There are no issues with this selection and there should not be with Dr Dre being as talented as he is.
The lyricism is great as it ranges from incredibly intricate to passionate and emotional. While Dr Dre openly admits to not writing all his rhymes, his delivery and the power he puts behind them really land the meaning deep with a lot of impact. For some of the audiance, the fact Dr Dre did not write all of it could tarnish it for them, however he conducts his feelings through them accurately and powerfully.
The features are a huge part of this projectand help to make this a milestone in the rap game. There are a core group who appear repetively and consistently put a lot of effort and pleasure into the tracklist. The other guests all do a really excellent job of putting across thier feeling of genorosity towards how Dre has shaped thier career and that translates into thier rhymes. There were absolutely no problems with the feature selection here.
Overall, Dr Dre has once again shown that his level of ability and experiance in Hip Hop have allowed him to make a really amazing album. It may not be Detox, but from what the public have heard, this is much more personnal.
This album has a lot of elements to take the listener back to a different time in Hip Hop. If it wasn’t for the topical content, this could have been a ninties project.
The production is very laidback and eases in the listener to the whole experiance. It is easy listening for the most part with a few sharper moments that lend itself to the more politically inclined lyrics. A few more beats with a modern feel could show that Slum Village accepts the modern era of Hip Hop, but thier beat selection fits extremely well with thier style.
The lyricism is strong and flows through the whole project. Every member does a great job layering thier rhymes to help with the imagery as well as the rhythem of the tracks. There are very few improvement to be made of thier individual performances.
The features all add to the feel of the tracks and build up the lyrical repetoire. All of them add good verses and have a great deal of chemistry with the group. A few features with more of a presence in Hip Hop could help attract a few new listeners, however Slum Village have selected thier guests well.
Overall, this is a good kickback album with a lot of good points and no clear bad ones. All of Slum Village should be proud of keeping thier sound all these years.
