This project is somewhat laid back but still engaging. This would be easy to stick on and listen to anywhere.
The production is entertaining with plenty of space for Bronson to manouvre and find his rhythm. Each song is individual with the skits in between a lot of songs helping to keep them from running together. Maybe something with a faster pace could help keep the level of energy up, but this still works well together.
The lyricism is clever with the delivery really helping to add to the performance overall. There are a few different devices used to keep the lyrics smart and entertaining. A change in flow could show more of a drive to experiment with new styles, but Action Bronson knows what works for him and executes it very well on this project.
The features do a great job of helping to flesh out this project and stopping Bronson’s voice from getting repetitive. Each does a great job of showing thier own skills while building up the track they are on. Some more singers and others further from the rap game could have created some more experimental tracks, but the guests on here are still very effective.
Overall, this may not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy it, they will enjoy it a lot. Action Bronson has made a great project that will resonate with some for a while to come.
This project is another good showing from the members of CZARFACE. Each does their part very well which helps lead to a concise and cohesive project.
The production is fantastic with the signature CZARFACE sound coming through very clearly. The jazz influences are still present and help add a dimension to this music that a lot of new music is missing. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but it is different, edgy and very enjoyable.
The lyricism is good with the rappers using plenty of superhero references to play to the comic book style. Both Esoteric and Inspectah Deck put in the energy to fit with the fast paced album, which is thirteen tracks but last only thirty five minutes. Some more changes in flow could make a few more interesting moments, but there are no faults in the rhymes spit by the main artists.
The features help to flesh out this project and shows that not only big names help make tracks. Each of them put in good efforts and help keep the quality high on this album. A few more singers may help to expand the possibilities of this album, but may not have fitted with the style of the CZARFACE story.
Overall, this is a very fast paced and entertaining project, but may not be for everyone. On the other hand, it is definitely worth one listen to decide if the style of this group works for you.
This is a refreshing listen as Bronson brings his blend of wit and lyricism with some great backing beats to breath some life into a one way Hip Hop world. Bronson attempts to use his skills to show the world that Hip Hop has more than one option for the future.
The production is excellent and the minimal use of unusual noises helps the beats be a bit smoother. Each track has its own feeling and atmosphere even if the sounds used are very similar. Most of the songs are fairly subdued in backing, allowing Bronson to have more freedom for his rapping, but some more high energy elements may have helped to give the album more replay-ability.
The lyricism is fantastic and is the top point of this album. Bronson flexes his lyrical biceps and weaves imaginative tapestries that are full of description. He uses a very full range of techniques to enhance his wordplay and make an entertaining set of songs that do t have a lot to criticise in the lyrics department.
The features aren’t great as they tend to blend a lot into the background without standing out but they put in good efforts that can be enjoyed if the listener tries hard enough. If they were a bit more eclectic and did something a bit different, the album may have had a touch more diversity.
Overall, this album is very entertaining if your a fan of lyricism. However, if your looking for big party tunes, you may not find them on here.
