Rich The Kid x Migos – Still On Lock Review

This is an enjoyable mixtape but falls to a far too common flaw. Once you have heard one of the songs, it seems like you have heard a lot of the songs. A touch more variation wouldn’t go amiss.

The production is excellent and lends a good atmosphere to the track. The beats all run smoothly together and reflect the meanings of each song well. However, as the songs are so similar, some diversity would go a fair distance in making a more universal project.

The lyricism is alright but is nothing spectacular. The reliance on delivery and performance works well on the type of track the artists are making. On the other hand, some more lyrical acrobatics could make some tracks that would appeL to a wider audiance.

The features are alright but are very similar to the main artists when it comes to style. Each guest puts in good effort and has an alright verse that can bring a touch more cohesiveness to the project. Unfortunately, due to the stylistic similarities, thier performance can fade into the background as they can sound like the main artists themselves.

Overall, this is an entertaining mixtape that can showcase all the artists talent, but they could use a wider variety of content and backing. The next project from Rich The Kid or Migos should look to appeal to a wider audiance.

T-Pain – The Iron Way Review

This is a very enjoyable listen and while the use of autotune is frowned upon by portions of the Hip Hop community, T-Pain uses this opportunity to show that he is the best at using it and can use it well. There is a lot of energy in these songs and it is mostly down to autotune.

The production is excellent and combined with the autotune delivery makes for some very energetic, club ready tracks. There are a lot of interesting noises and sounds used to create beats that are rarer than others and stand out much re from the crowd. While it would be out of his nature, some more slowed down beats may help T-Pain make more of a connection to the listener.

The lyricism is better than expected. T-Pain includes a lot of different rap techniques through out the mixtape and it really shows that he is moving forward still in his career. It is clearer when he isn’t using autotune but it is all peppered through the entire project and helps build up the experiance.

The features are also excellent and all contribute to this being a good mixtape. All the guests put in good effort and channel thier passion for music into thier contributions. Some features a bit further out of his comfort zone may make a couple of interesting moments but this selection make great listening.

Overall, this is a very enjoyable listen and there is a song on there for everyone. T-Pain makes some great songs and should be commended on his efforts.

Zuse – Illegal Immigrant Review

Zuse has very distinct voice and dialect, but this doesn’t mean he can be extremely repetitive and call it entertainment. While he does have good verses, the chorus’ are long and very repetitive which drags the song down, despite them being very catchy.

The production is good but very limited in its range of tones which can make it difficult to really understand Zuse as he has very low vocal tones aswell. The project is full of dark, resounding bass and creates an almost throbbing backing for Zuse to rap over. This makes a very specific range of enjoyability for the audience.

The lyricism is alright in the verses but the hooks are very simple and repetitive which, while they are catchy, can create a boring track overall. Zuse does have some wordplay and other lyrical techniques but the hooks disappointment far outweigh the verses greatness.

The features are good, especially T.I, and they help to bring more diversity to the project. Zuse can be difficult to listen to for a full length project but with the features, it helps break up the monotony and makes a much better listening experience.

Overall, This is an enjoyable project if you like the formula that Zuse works with, deep voice with deep toned trap music, but if you like something with some up and downs in, more of a roller-coaster ride, then this is not for you.
