Nipsey Hussle – Victory Lap Review

This release is a true reflection of how talented Nipsey Hussle is as both an artist and a business man. Victory Lap is a perfect title to fit this as it shows not only the content of the music, but also how Nipsey has progressed in recent times.

The production on this is energetic and impactful. Each beat is full of classic west coast sounds that show that Nipsey is a strong representation of what the modern west coast sounds like. Something further afield then this signature sound might give an indication that Hussle is trying new things, but he knows what works well for him and uses this to pick backings that he is extremely effective over.

The lyricism is great with the delivery helping to boost the impact. The wordplay is fantastic and helps shows why Nipsey Hussle has such a loyal fan base in the first place. Maybe something with more of a story to tell would be interesting, to see how he would handle it, however he is definitely adept at using what made him a household name in the first place.

The features do a great job of adding their voices to the message of the track they are on. Each shows their own skills and passion for music while helping to build on Nipsey’s work on the song. Maybe a few more singers could add another dimension, but the guests all do fine work on this album.

Overall, this is an entertaining release that has plenty of replay value. Nipsey Hussle has had some great success and this should show that it isn’t fleeting.

Nipsey Hussle -Slauson Boy 2 Review

This is a good mixtape for Nipsey Hussle to show his skills are still sharp and he can still make great music. With a range of top mixtapes under his belt, this one only adds to the catalogue.

The production is good with lots of diversity so there is plenty of scope for content. Each beat is entertaining and creates the perfect atmosphere for the message of the song. There are no big problems with the backing selection here, apart from personal taste of the listener of course.

The lyricism is great with Nipsey showing a lot of different techniques as well as impressive delivery. Every song has a message that is clear and made clearer by the wordplay and descriptive ability Hussle displays. Possibly a few more flow changes could have an interesting effect, but Nipsey has a great performance on this project.

The features are good as they help to break up the sound of one voice over the seventeen track project. Each puts in a good effort and helps the project to stay cohesive. Maybe some more singers could balance out the guest side of this mixtape, but all on here are effective.

Overall, this is a great project if your a fan of the west coast as Nipsey Hussle hoists it up on his shoulders and carries through to the modern age. With a few others help, the west coast could beat out the other styles of rap music and be crowned king again.

The Game – The Documentary 2.5 Review

This album is the second disc of his release last week and it continues the standard of greatness. There is at least a few tracks for every Hip Hop listener and they are done very well.

The production is good and keeps his west coast feel well and truly alive. Each song may have the diversity to keep its individuality, but it definately has that west influence through all of it. There are no issues with the backings on this as he covers every aspect of Hip Hop with it.

The lyricism is good and shows he is still improving upon his previous performances. The way he moves within the beats shows great talent as Game has shown every step of his discography. There is little to improve on here, but maybe some radio friendly songs to appeal to the mainstream.

The features all help flesh this out and, while they all put in a lot of effort, show that Game is one of the best out there. Each guest shows that they have some talent and that they can put passion into thier work, but few come close to the main artist. There are no issues with his selection however because each helps make the project more cohesive.

Overall, this album is a fantastic continuation of his previous work that shows Game is not missing a step. If Game can keep this up, then he will truly be one of the greats.
