JL – DIBKIS Review

This release is a great showing of skills for JL and helps put his name into the public eye. Each track shows a lot of talent from the artist and how he is developing in his music.

The production is energetic and dark in a lot of places. There are a lot of songs with deep atmospheres to delve into and helps to connect with the listener. Maybe some more lighter beats could help give a more balanced experience but this is still a great backdrop for the stylings of JL.

The lyricism is amazing with a lot of clever wordplay and fast paced rhymes to keep things interesting and exciting. JL does a great job of displaying a variety of abilities through out the songs, but his hooks can be a little repetitive. However, that is the only real issue with his performance on here.

The features do great of expanding upon JL’s performance to increase the entertainment value of each song. All the guests did a great job of showing how well they can rap and/or sing, and help build this project up to an even higher level. The guest selection on here fill the criteria but maybe something further from his comfort zone could add another dimension.

Overall, this is a very deep project that connects with the listener while giving them an energy boost to their day. JL is a fantastic member of Strange Music and proves it with this album.

Tech N9ne Collabos – Dominion Review

This album is fantastic as it shows that every member of Strange Music is not only talented, but works extremely well with the other members. Tech N9ne has built a strong house and will only continue to be a powerhouse in the rap game.

The production is incredible with a huge range of different beats to allow for an extremely diverse set of tracks. The backings each create the perfect atmosphere for the type of song that they are as well as blending together with a top level of cohesion. There are no problems with the production here and Strange Music should continue with this mentality.

The lyricism is amazing with every artist showing that they are as talented as their leader. Tech leads the way with plenty of examples of top quality wordplay and the rest of his troops fall in line with their own stunning displays. Each artist here does a really magnificent job here and proves that Strange music makes strong decisions about who they sign.

Overall, with every artist here being a guest and doing a great job, this release may be a bit of a long slog to the end, but the end result stays fresh with the switching artists making things interesting. The house that Tech N9ne built is a strong one and only continues to get stronger.

Tech N9NE – The Storm Review

This is a lengthy release from Tech, but each song is entertaining. They might not all work as a full album listen through, but individually, these are good songs.

The production is great with plenty of energy keeping the album buzzing. Each beat makes a great atmosphere for the type of song which helps keep the listener interested. Maybe a few more slow tracks could give more of a balanced feel, but it may not fit with Tech’s particular style.

The lyricism is fantastic with some of the best wordplay this year. Tech bends words to his will as he crafts bar full of multi-syllable schemes as well as every other lyrical device. His flow may be a little fast for everyone, but it makes very entertaining tracks.

The features are good as they help keep tracks fresh considering how long this project is. Each puts in a great effort that shows the chemistry that the Strange Music roster has with each other. There is a good balance of rap and singing, but a few more artists who are singers could give a little more depth.

Overall, this is a good release from Tech N9NE but it is not as cohesive as his previous albums. While he does more than good work on this, a bit more direction could ave stream lined this a bit more.

KXNG Crooked -Good Vs. Evil Review

This album is full of all the things listeners love about KXNG Crooked. He is focused and that keeps his work sharp and following the theme of this project.

The production is great with the atmosphere reflecting exactly the message of the tracks. The beats are all dark to reflect the subject matter but are smooth enough to transition easily between the songs without becoming muddled together. Maybe something more light hearted could show another side of Crooked, but he excels on these tracks, so no one will be too bothered.

The lyricism is some of the best that has been released in recent years. Crooked uses some intensely descriptive and clever wordplay to make a project laced with absolute bars. His style might not be for everyone, but his rhymes should suit all.

The features are good as they help add a little more depth to this album. Each may not be in it for very long, but the fact they contributed is more than enough with some legends showing enough respect to this west coast MC that he is brought to some listeners attention at all. The way this is put together with the guests is great as they don’t control the project, just gently shape it.

Overall, this album is great to listen to from top to bottom, as long as you can get on board with the concept. KXNG Crooked is one of the best lyricists out there and should be respected by all hip hop fans as such.

Tech N9ne Collabos – Strangulation Volume 2 Review

This album is full of the moments that make this series a hit. Tech N9ne keeps the momentum of his team going throughout with a range of atmospheres to fulfill every listeners mood.

The production is energetic and powerful with some more laid back moments to allow the showing of the softer side of the team. Each beat is individual which helps the project become cohesive and stop the listen through become a big one track mess. There are no issues with beat selection except maybe trying to extend thier comfort zone slightly.

The lyricism is great as all the artists putting in the effort to extend thier skills. Tech N9ne does especially well in his attempts to show that his label is the strongest independant powerhouse out there and he puts forward a very strong case. Again, there are no real issues here.

The features all bring thier top game to show what they can do as well as show the strength of the team. Each only makes the tracks stronger and the guests all do a great job of showcasing thier own skills. There is a good balance of singing to rap which all really makes for a great listen through.

Overall, this is a great showing for Strange music as well as for the individual artists. Tech N9ne has shown that once again he has one of the strongest rosters out there.

Prof – Liability Review

This album is a great show for a lot of people to enjoy with humour as well as bars. Prof blends a lot of different types of rap music together to make a universal project.

The production is something to adjust to, but it is great when you get used to it. At first it is jarring, but actually it works very well with Prof’s flow as well as his quirkyness. Maybe some more beats that appeal to the masses could help bring Prof to the mainstream audiance, but he works well with what he has selected.

The lyricism is good with a lot of performance to enhance what he is saying. Prof uses a range of different techniques to make his lyrics land harder as well as showing his flow and delivery as superior to a lot of todays rappers. There are no issues with his rapping sao far, but it will be interesting to see where he heads with his rhymes next.

The features all do a good job of being comparison points for Prof and he does not slouch when compared. Each guest puts in a lot of effort and helps make the project more cohesive. Some more features could make Prof push himself a bit further but there are no problems with the poeple on this project.

Overall, this is a very enjoyable project from a rapper who brings a fresh creative perspective to the rap game. Prof has done well to craft this and he should carry this forward.

Dizzy Wright – The Growing Process Review

This is a great album for kicking back to, or for smoking to if that is what you wanna do. There is a lot of songs aimed at smoking as well as more thought provoking songs.

The production is excellent and works extremely well with what Dizzy is rapping about on each track. the beats are cohesive and flow together without becoming one long song. A few more songs with higher energy may create a more universal project but it can be seen that Dizzy doesn’t want to give up on making songs he believes in.

The lyricism is also very good without being too complicated that it gets missed. Each song seems to have excellent wordplay in it backed up by Dizzy Wright’s passion about the content that improves the impact of each bar. Adding a few complications to his rhymes may help show more of an all round rap ability but there is no doubt that he knows how to write to connect with the listener.

The features are fantastic and show how Dizzy has made connections in the rap game. Each guest puts in a good effort and comes away with a good verse that helps to build up the track they are on. A few more guests that are either veterans or more likely to sing could help to create a more well rounded project, however there is no doubt to the effectiveness of who Dizzy has chosen for this project.

Overall, this project has the desired feel and atmosphere that Dizzy intends. It has all the makings of a laid back and enjoyable project that many people can enjoy and be entertained by.
