Gucci Mane – Droptopwop Review

This is another solid release form Gucci Mane, but it is carried by its beats. Gucci does his thing, but it becomes monotonous as a whole listen through.

The production is fantastic with Metro Boomin providing some great backdrops. Each song is individual while having similar elements, but that is due to the same producer doing every song. There are no issues with the backgrounds as they are all sonically great.

The lyricism is not complicated but it is effective. The wordplay is there with some clever rhymes used, but there is a lack of variation in flow that drags it down a little. Some more effort in the performance and diversity could help lift this up a level, but it is still enjoyable.

The features are great as they help break up some of the monotony. Each puts ina  good verse and while some sound similar to Gucci in style, they seem to have more energy and passion to fuel their verse. Maybe some singing would add another edge, but this is still a strong selection.

Overall, this shows that Gucci Mane does not plan to slow down or change the formula, especially when it puts up numbers like he was doing last year. If he wants to stay on this hot run, he might need to look into adding a little more flavour, but he will still make a bunch of money off of this.

Schoolboy Q -Blank Face LP Review

This album has tracks for everyone but not necessarily in a cohesive order. Every track is interesting, but not all have a high level of replay ability.

The production is varied and allows plenty of scope for Schoolboy Q to work with. Each has its own feel, but some carry extremely similar elements. On a full listen through, it can sound disjointed because of the track similarities, but is still enjoyable.

The lyricism is strong with passion filling every bar of Schoolboy Q’s rhymes. He may not always have the most complex lyrics but he gets his message across with such belief that the listener feels through their whole body. Maybe some changes in flow could make some more exciting moments, but there are no real issues with the raps on this.

The features are great and add a lot to this project. Each puts in a good performance, and help to push the tracks to further greatness. Most come off well and show the connections that the main artist has made in the Hip Hop world. No problems with selection here.

Overall, this album has a lot of good things about it and will have songs that will appeal to everyone at some point. Lets see where Schoolboy Q takes this momentum next.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High KO Review

This shoe is stylish and eye catching as the original but the new materials make it a touch more wearable in the hotter months with its increase in breath-ability. The softer materials can help make these slightly more comfortable to wear for longer walks.

The silhouette is the famous Air Jordan 1 outline that is known the world over. The Swoosh runs all the way from the sides around the back to help the colour scheme feel fluid and make another standout point of the shoe.

The Air Jordan wings on the side help identify this as shoe royalty. The toe box is a good size so that the wearers toes don’t get crushed as you bend them while walking. The outsole has good traction as well as leaving the prints behind of the first shoe in long ongoing legacy.

Overall, this shoe will catch eyes and will never go out of style. Comfortable to wear will always be a bonus too.

Jadakiss – Top 5 Dead Or Alive Review

This album is full of great songs that prove that Jadakiss is where he says he is in the rap hierarchy. his ability to be this lyrical while going over these hard beats makes for a lot of really great moments for Hip Hop that should make a lot of the new generation stand up and pay attention.

The production is great as it sees Jadakiss using his underground feel to make headway into the mainstream which is not easy to do. The backings all give scope for content as well as having a wide range to offer to the messages of the tracks. Maybe a few more softer tracks could show that he can make more of a balanced project but Jadakiss has selected his backings very well for what he wants to show.

The lyricism is obviously fantastic with Jadakiss using every technique under the sun to keep his rhymes fresh. The way he puts his lyrics together leads to some really intricate and hard hitting moments that the listener will remember for a while. There are no issues with how Jadakiss puts his opinions and views across on this project.

The features do a really good job of showing that Jadakiss has serious connections in Hip Hop that are talented and can compete with him on the songs. Each one puts in a lot of effort and helps to make the project cohesive while showing that competition is not dead in the rap game. Maybe a few more singing guests could bring in a slight more mainstream feel and bring this to a slightly wider audiance, but Jadakiss has selected poeple he can work well with and it shows.,

Overall, this album is great to listen to street, lyrical or entertainment perspective. Jadakiss shows that the title of this album is accurate and that he has earned his spot there.
