Your Old Droog – Packs Review

This release is a great showing for lyricists everywhere, but lacks a certain star power to help bring it back to the forefront as a skill. Your Old Droog clearly has some talent, but may want to expand his repertoire to attract more listeners.

The production is good but with a lot of unusual instrument placement. The way some of the instruments are incorporated make the beats more unique,, however do not make them more mainstream so are unlikely to make Droog a household name. A few more mainstream backings could help bring more listeners to the audience, but Droog does great on the selection here.

The lyricism is obviously incredible with Droog showcasing his abilities with amazing wordplay. Each of the verses is packed with an assortment of techniques that make the bars so entertaining for the real hip hop listener.Maybe Droog could try varying his delivery and performance, but the actual lyrics are truly amazing.

The features are good and help to flesh out this release, but they do not add a huge amount to the finish. Each does an alright job, but their main contribution is breaking up the monotony of one tone and voice. Some more variation in the guests could add another dimension to this project.

Overall, this is an enjoyable release for every listener who loves true lyricism. If you are looking for pop beats and autotune, you are definitely in the wrong place.

Termanology -More Politics Review

This release is a fantastic showcase of Termanology’s skills. He deftly makes songs that speak to the audience as well as explore his personal experience.

The production is great with a lot of different influences coming together to make easy flowing beats. There is plenty of variation to explore the different content while not being one long mess. Some more traditional instruments might make some more songs to appeal to a wider audience, but Termanology has a great selection here.

The lyricism is obviously great and Termanology shows why he is considered a top lyricist. His differentiation in flow and pace helps keep this interesting and cohesive. there are no issues with his performance on this and should continue in this vein.

The features do a great job of filling out the tracks. Each puts in a great verse or hook that keeps the tracks feeling fresh while showing Termanology’s connections in the rap world. There is a good balance of singing and rapping between the guests which really helps this release.

Overall, this is an entertaining and thought provoking piece of work that audiences should enjoy. Termanology has put together a release to give his point of view and should make some sales while doing it.

Apolla Brown – Grandeur Review

This album is a great listen through for a more settled down scene that is filled with passion. Apollo provides a great backing that never overpowers the rhymes and chooses those who fit in with his style very well.

The production is smooth and captures the essence of the song perfectly. Most seem to have a more old school feel as they dont rely on alien noises to make them appealing to the young generation. They are more substantial and soothing than that. Apolla puts across his beats well, with enough variation to show he is not stuck to one formula.

The features are good and reflect the style Apollo puts across very well. Each brings a lot of effort and pride with thier rhymes to make the tracks they are on shine out. A lot of them have worked with Apollo before and that shows in the chemistry of thier songs. There are no real issues with the guest selection on here, but Apollo may want to look into people further away from the genre to create even more of a buzz.

Overall, this is a great listen and a fantastic showcase for Apollo Brown’s beats. The way his backings works combined with the selected features molds an album that works well for everyone involved.

Statik Selektah – Lucky 7 Review

This is a great album to stick on if you don’t want to be tied down to one artists point of view and opinions. There are a lot of good points on this album that make it enjoyable listening.

The production is really stunning and is the best thing about this album, which is a big deal. Each track is individual and they all cohesively run together without the listener being confused about what song is on. There are no flaws about the beats that Selektah is using to craft a very entertaining album.

As Statik Selektah is a producer putting together this album, the features make up all the lyrics on this project. However they all come with great verses and hooks, which contain a lot of thier own lyrical acrobatics. A few more rappers with a faster flow may have kept the energy flow up a bit through the project, but that may have stopped the balance of the correct atmosphere for each song.

Overall, this is a great album for all audiances of Hip Hop. The smooth production with the quick acrobatic rhymes make for a good time and this is a great stepping stone for Statik Skeletah.

Your Old Droog – Your Old Droog Review

This is the best current album for lovers of lyricism and rap styles of the old days. Droog controls everything about this album from flow to tone to how much you should enjoy each track and he hits every note perfectly. This is a truly great work of retro art.

The production is clearly new but has a very throwback feel to them. They each have the feeling of not being overpowering while accenting what Droog is doing on each one. Especially on the track “The 70’s”, the production fits in beautifully as he raps about new rappers who rap like the old days so he shows his age and goes further back than them to rap better than them.

The lyricism is beautiful and is present on every track, and pretty much every bar. Droog works the words wonderfully into imagery, similies, metaphors and any other lyrical device you can think of into easy flowing and extremely enjoyable raps. His flow is reminiscent of Nas and should propel Droog toward mainstream success.

The whole project is crafted so that it flows together easily and makes listening to it very easy going while you can listen to it with more intent to pick up all the complex wordplay that Droog throws in there. It is a very good album that all Hip Hop enthusiasts can enjoy.

Overall, this album is good for all listeners of Hip Hop and will help to bring lyricism back to the forefront of mainstream Hip Hop. Your Old Droog should be very happy with this project and should be ready to hit great success very soon.
